Ballard (hamstring) reached an injury settlemtn with the Colts on Tuesday.

Ballard cleared waivers and will be placed on the Colts injured reserve, Kevin Bowen of colts.com reports.
That's now the third straight year Ballard will land on the IR. After leading the Colts in rushing in 2012, injuries have mired the 25-year-old's career, allowing him to participate in just one game since then. If (and that's a big if) he returns healthy, he will try to earn a roster spot with the Colts in 2016.
Tue Sep 15 201518:21Vick Ballard: Waived By Colts
Ballard (hamstring) was waived by the Colts on Tuesday, NFL.com reports.
Since leading the Colts in rushing in 2012, Ballard has been contained to one game due to ACL and Achilles injuries. He entered this season with a nagging hamstring concern, which tested the organizations' patience enough to jettison the running back in the early going. Currently on waivers, another team will have to weigh the risks versus rewards due to his rich medical chart.

Ballard (hamstring) has been ruled out of Sunday's season opener against the Bills.
Ballard's injured hamstring has prevented him from practicing all week, so it comes as little surprise that he will not be available to suit up Sunday. With Ballard out, Josh Robinson and Tyler Varga will occupy the Colts' backup positions behind starting running back Frank Gore.
Fri Sep 11 201511:59Ballard (hamstring) did not take part in Friday's practice
Ballard (hamstring) did not take part in Friday's practice, Tom James of the Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports.
Ballard did not practice at all this week, so his chances of playing in Week 1 appear slim. The Colts will provide an update on Ballard's status when they release their injury report following Friday's practice.

Wed Sep 9 201515:02Ballard (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday
Ballard (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
With Dan Herron on IR, it remains to be seen how the carries that don't go to starter Frank Gore will be divided, though and at this stage, it looks like Josh Robinson is the upside play on that font, with Ballard still banged up as Week 1 approaches.
Mon Sep 7 201511:46Ballard (hamstring) not practicing Monday
Ballard (hamstring) was not practicing Monday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
Meanwhile, fellow RB Josh Robinson was able to take the field Monday. With Dan Herron no longer in the Colts' backfield mix, the team needs to identify a new No. 2 back behind starter Frank Gore, and at this stage, it looks like the assignment will go to Robinson, with Ballard slotting in as the team's No. 3 option at the position.
Sat Sep 5 201517:52Ballard (hamstring) made Colts' initial 53-man roster
Ballard (hamstring) made the Colts' initial 53-man roster, Indy Sports Central reports.
With Ballard and Dan Herron (shoulder) both banged up, the Colts elected to keep five running backs, at least for the time being. If someone is eventually released, which seems quite likely, it will either be Ballard or Tyler Varga.

Ballard tweaked his hamstring injury during Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals, Scout.com's Phillip B. Wilson reports.
Making his second appearance of the preseason, Ballard gained 29 yards on nine carries and 12 yards on three receptions, but then left the game due to an aggravation of his hamstring injury. He's competing with Zurlon Tipton and Josh Robinson (head) for the third spot on the depth chart.

Ballard didn't play in Saturday's preseason game after he suffered a hamstring injury in Thursday's practice, the team's official web site reports.
Ballard had just two carries last week in his first game action since 2013 after missing almost two years with Achilles and ACL injuries. He battled a hamstring injury early in training camp. With this setback, there may not be enough time left in the preseason for him to show he deserves to win a roster spot.

Ballard (Achilles/hamstring) had two carries for four yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Chicago.
Though Ballard didn't do much, he showed he was healthy after missing nearly two years of action.Ballard last played in a preseason or regular season game in 2013. He'll need to have a strong final two weeks of the preseason to win a roster spot.

Ballard, who is coming back from a torn Achilles, has been sidelined most of the past week with a hamstring injury and there is no timetable for his return, ESPN reports.
Ballard still has time to get healthy and play in some preseason games to show he's over his Achilles injury. However, missing any time isn't good since his spot on the roster isn't guaranteed as he competes for a backup role behind Frank Gore and Dan Herron. Ballard tore his Achilles last year during a late July practice, forcing him out for a second consecutive season following an ACL tear early in the 2013 season.

Ballard (Achilles) was not placed on the PUP list and will participate in practices with the Colts as training camp begins, ESPN reports.
Ballard will likely be limited to individual drills early in camp, but it's a good sign that he didn't begin the preseason on the PUP list. Ballard tore his Achilles last year during a late July practice, forcing him out for a second consecutive season following an ACL tear early in the 2013 season. He'll compete for a backup role behind Frank Gore and Dan Herron.
