Cousins completed 21-of-32 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Falcons, but he was picked off twice, including a game-ending interception returned for a touchdown in overtime.
Cousins connected with six different receivers, throwing his touchdown to tight end Derek Carrier, and while he was able to lead the team to a game-tying field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter, his interception in overtime was extremely costly. Receiver Ryan Grant slipped on the play, though Cousins' pass didn't appear to be heading for a completion anyway. Cousins has been up-and-down this season, though he hasn't passed for multiple touchdowns in a game yet, and he'll have a tough time breaking that streak in Week 6 against the Jets, who are off in Week 5.

Cousins completed 31-of-46 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He also scored on a one-yard touchdown plunge on his only carry of the game.
A strong showing for the fourth-year signal caller, who has thrown for over 600 yards on 95 attempts in the last two games. Cousins' fantasy value stands to benefit if the Redskins continue their pass-heavy ways, especially if he can continue to limit the turnovers (four in four games). Washington could be forced to throw early and often next week, when they visit the high-scoring Falcons.

Extremely wet and windy conditions are expected for Sunday's game due to Hurricane Joaquin. The weather may impact passing conditions.
Cousins has struggled to protect the football registering four interceptions and a fumble. If the conditions are as poor as expected the team's gameplan may focus more on the run game.

Cousins completed 30 of 49 passes for 316 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions, in Thursday's 32-21 loss to the Giants.
Cousins settled down following an ugly first quarter, though his stat line was still largely produced in garbage time. He was able to move the ball with an onslaught of short passes, but only after his early struggles allowed the Giants to take a healthy lead. According to Brian McNally of 106.7 The Fan, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said after the game that the team doesn't have a quarterback controversy, which strongly suggests Cousins will start against the Eagles in Week 4.

Cousins completed 23 of 27 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Rams.
The Redskins' running game was dominant Sunday, as Matt Jones and Alfred Morris combined for 182 rushing yards and two touchdowns (most came from Jones, who had 19 carries for 123 yards and both scores). As a result, Cousins was simply able to manage the offense, as he connected with eight different receivers, throwing his lone touchdown to wideout Pierre Garcon, while tight end Jordan Reed led the team with 82 receiving yards. Up next is a quick turnaround Thursday against the Giants, who have allowed 719 passing yards and four passing touchdowns through the first two games of the season.

Cousins completed 21 of 31 passes for 196 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions Sunday against the Dolphins.
Cousins connected with seven different receivers, though none were wideout DeSean Jackson, who left in the first half with a hamstring injury while chasing down a long pass from Cousins that was well overthrown. Cousins was decent, throwing his lone touchdown to tight end Jordan Reed (seven catches on 11 targets for 63 yards), but he threw a horrible interception at the two-yard line that killed seven-play drive with Washington within seven in the fourth quarter. Robert Griffin (concussion) was inactive for the game, and despite the loss Sunday, Cousins is fully expected to start Week 2 against the Rams.
Mon Aug 31 201513:09Kirk Cousins: Confirmed as Washington's Starting QB
Coach Jay Gruden confirmed Monday that Cousins will be Washington's starter at QB for the upcoming season, ESPN.com reports.
Previous reports had relayed that Cousins was slated to start the team's regular-season opener against the Dolphins, but it's now been made clear that the assignment will stick beyond Week 1, with Gruden saying that Washington is "Kirk's team." Per Gruden, "when it's all said and done...we feel like at this time Kirk Cousins gives us the best chance to win." While Cousins now has a degree of job security, at least in the short term, the team remains in the process of deciding whether Robert Griffin or Colt McCoy will serve the Cousins' top backup.
Mon Aug 31 201509:55Kirk Cousins: Reportedly Week 1 Starter
Cousins will start at quarterback in Week 1 against Miami, team sources told ESPN's Dianna Russini.
Robert Griffin III missed Saturday's preseason game because of concussion symptoms and his status isn't clear heading into Week 1. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is expected to address the media later Monday and likely make the decision official.

Cousins completed 20 of his 27 passes for 190 yards, with a touchdown and an interception in Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens.
With reports swirling that Cousins may get the nod over Robert Griffin (concussion) in Week 1, Cousins came out and threw an interception on an attempted screen pass on his third play of the game. He did fare better thereafter, but he largely settled for shorter throws, and his touchdown came on a deflection. All in all, it was an unimpressive but not disastrous performance, which marks somewhat of a departure from his wildly inconsistent play in the past. It's still entirely unclear who will be under center in Week 1.
Sat Aug 29 201511:35Kirk Cousins: Possible Week 1 Starter
According to ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini, sources say Washington plans to start Cousins not only Saturday against the Ravens, but also Week 1 of the regular season against the Dolphins.
Cousins starting is probably not a done deal, as NFL Network's Albert Breer also tweeted no final call has been made yet. Still, it is definitely significant that there is even a debate right now in Washington's headquarters. There are likely several moving parts to who starts in Week 1, including Griffin's health, Cousins' performance in preseason, and both quarterbacks' relationship to head coach Jay Gruden and upper management, so it could be a while before the final decision is made.

Cousins will get the start against the Ravens on Saturday with Robert Griffin (concussion) out, Ian Rapaport of NFL.com reports.
This is confirming was already extremely likely, as Cousins has been the primary backup for Griffin throughout camp. The question now is how long Cousins will have to occupy this role while Griffin recovers from the beating he took against the Lions last week. For this Saturday at least, Cousins figures to see a very large chunk of time on the field.

Cousins completed 8-of-12 passes for 91 yards and one touchdown in Thursday's preseason game against the Lions.
Cousins came in toward the end of the third quarter and ultimately engineered what turned out to be the Redskins' game-winning drive. That series was capped by a four-yard touchdown pass from Cousins to wideout Rashad Ross. Through two sounds preseason showings, Cousins would figure to still have a slight edge on teammate Colt McCoy in the Redskins' backup quarterback competition. However, if starter Robert Griffin (concussion) is ruled out of Washington's next preseason contest, then it'll be interesting to see if Cousins or McCoy is chosen to begin with the first-teamers.

Cousins completed 12-of-14 passes for 154 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Browns, adding one carry for four yards and a touchdown.
Cousins, who is competing with Colt McCoy for the backup job, played the entire second quarter and nearly all of the third quarter, leading the Redskins to 17 points on four drives. And, the only series that didn't produce points ended with a Silas Redd fumble. McCoy, on the other hand, didn't lead his team to any points, completing 4-of-6 passes for 33 yards with another 13 yards on three carries. Cousins clearly has the early lead, but McCoy figures to a larger share of the playing time in the second week of the preseason.
Sun Dec 7 201420:33Cousins may get consideration to start in Week 15 against Giants
Cousins may get consideration to start in Week 15 against the Giants, if Colt McCoy (neck) is unable to play, ESPN's John Keim reports.
With Cousins a healthy inactive, Robert Griffin replaced an injured McCoy for the end of Sunday's loss to the Rams. It apparently isn't a sure thing that Griffin's next in line to start, despite what Sunday's roster decision would seem to indicate. Washington draws a favorable Week 15 matchup with the Giants, but all of McCoy, Griffin and Cousins have proven to be unreliable, at best, this season.
Sun Dec 7 201411:45Cousins inactive for Sunday's game against Rams
Cousins is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams.
With Colt McCoy starting and Robert Griffin III serving as the backup, there is no room for Cousins on the active gameday roster.

Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Cousins' teammate, Colt McCoy, will get Washington's starter's reps at quarterback this week.
The team hasn't completely ruled out the possible return of Robert Griffin this weekend, but at this stage, it's clear that if he remains out -- which is the likely outcome -- then McCoy will draw the team's Week 8 starting QB nod over Cousins.

It's unclear who will start at quarterback in Week 8 for the Redskins, the Washington Post reports.
Cousins was benched in the second half of Week 7, Colt McCoy played well in relief, and Robert Griffin III is scheduled to return to practice this week. It will be important to see how takes the most practice reps this week.

Cousins was replaced by Colt McCoy as the Redskins' quarterback to begin the second-half of Sunday's game versus the Titans, ESPN reports.
Cousins completed 10-of-16 passes for 139 yards and an interception, and also lost a fumble in a lackluster first-half Sunday. With the Redskins aiming to invigorate their offense, coach Jay Gruden opted to give McCoy the opportunity to start the second-half, which resulted in a 70-yard touchdown pass on Washington's first drive.

Cousins completed 24-of-38 passes for 354 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in Sunday's 30-20 loss at Arizona.
It was a close game heading into the fourth quarter, but Cousins made a mess of things, throwing all three of his interceptions in the final 15 minutes. As usual, Cousins did make a couple of nice throws, including a 64-yard touchdown to DeSean Jackson, although a majority of the damage came after the catch. The third-year QB is putting up solid fantasy numbers in the absence of RGIII, but the turnovers are starting to pile up (eight interceptions and one fumble lost). He did get back a major weapon Sunday, as TE Jordan Reed played for the first time since Week 1. Reed finished with eight catches for 92 yards, serving as a security blanket to Cousins, especially late in the second half with the Redskins in comeback mode. Cousins will try to get back on track next week, facing Tennessee at home.

Cousins completed 21-of-36 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns in Monday's 27-17 loss to the Seahawks.
Cousins wasn't as good as the statistics indicate, as he largely struggled to move the ball, but did find DeSean Jackson for gains of 60 and 57 yards. While the 57-yard gain required an incredibly difficult throw, Cousins also missed some easier passes, especially early in the game. Of course, once you account for the opponent and the Redskins' inability to run the ball, this was an encouraging performance for a quarterback coming off a five-turnover game. Cousins is inconsistent, and he sometimes makes horribly ill-advised plays, but he's also proven to be quite capable of making superstar-caliber throws. He draws a potentially difficult matchup against the Cardinals next week, but with Arizona bothered by some key defensive injuries, Cousins might find things to his liking.
