Massaquoi joined the Falcons as a fifth-round pick in 2012 and posted a pair of sacks to go with 22 tackles last season. Nonetheless, even on a wildly underwhelming defense, Massaquoi will not be retained by Atlanta next season, opening the door for him to sign elsewhere this offseason. | ||||||

Massaquoi played over 50 percent of the snaps last season after playing just 41 snaps total as a rookie. He started four games and finished third on the team with his four sacks. Massaquoi has good burst and is expected to play more as a stand-up outside linebacker with the Falcons transitioning to a 3-4 scheme. He'll compete for snaps with Osi Umenyiora, Kroy Biermann, and others. | ||||||

Per Falcons.com, Massaquoi's burst was "evident" in special teams periods. The Falcons believe Massaquoi slumped from 13.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2010 to six as a junior in 2011 because he added 15 pounds that offseason. He reported to the Falcons at 260 -- Massaquoi's 2010 weight -- and his explosion appears to have returned. He's a sleeper to emerge as a starter down the road. | ||||||
