Lane will have surgery on his broken right leg and is done for the season, Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports.

With three carries for 58 yards and a TD along with one catch for three yards in nine games, Lane wasn't a fantasy factor, but as the Bucs' only true fullback, his blocking will be missed by the team.

Bucs head coach Lovie Smith said Lane suffered a "serious leg injury" during Sunday's loss to the Bears, and he could miss the rest of the season, ESPN.com reports.

Lane, the only fullback on the roster, had to be carted off the field after being fitted for an air cast. Backup tight end Luke Stocker took over as the fullback after Lane went down, and it's possible that he could stay in that role if the Bucs can't find a suitable replacement.

Lane left Sunday's game against the Bears with a right ankle injury and will not return.

This one didn't look good. The Buccaneers brought out the cart for Lane, whose leg was fitted in an air cast before he was taken off the field. A broken leg or ankle seems possible, leaving Tampa without a true fullback for the rest of this game.

Lane has been suspended for two games for violating the league's performance enhancing substances policy.

Lane's suspension will begin immediately, ruling him out until Week 10's game against the Falcons. However, considering Lane has just two carries on the season, his suspension should hardly impact fantasy owners.

Lane was shut out of the Buc's 56-14 loss to the Falcons on Thursday, as he received neither a carry or a target in the passing game.

Lane had a 54-yard carry in Tampa's first game of the season, but has followed that up with one catch for three yards between his last two outings.

Lane recorded one carry for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.

As the Bucs' starting fullback, Lane isn't likely to carve out a major fantasy impact this season, but he certainly made the most of his one touch in Week 1.

It's also why the Fins decided against signing free agent Vonta Leach. Lane struggled as a lead blocker in 2012 and does not offer pass-catching ability.

Lane is a useful short-yardage option and special teamer, but was maddeningly up and down as a lead blocker last season. It's surprising the Fins have ostensibly jumped out of the Vonta Leach sweepstakes. They made heavy use of I-formations and the offset I last year, particularly when Lamar Miller was in the backfield. We would have loved Leach's addition for Miller's fantasy outlook.
