Hanna (knee) is active for the Cowboys' Week 3 matchup with the Falcons.
Hanna was able to get in a full practice Friday, demonstrating that the knee injury wouldn't be significant enough to hamper his Sunday. He'll slot in as the third tight end on the Dallas depth chart behind Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar.

Hanna (knee) was limited in Thursday's practice, the Cowboys' official site reports.
Hanna has returned to the field quickly after getting his knee scoped Saturday, but it's unclear if he'll recover in time for this Sunday's contest against the Falcons. Even so, he wasn't targeted in Week 1 and likely wouldn't usurp Jason Witten, despite the veteran's sprained ankles and knee.

Hanna had a scope performed on his knee Saturday, DallasCowboys.com reports.
It was just a minor clean-up procedure and Hanna could return to practice by the end of the week, but it still seems unlikely that he'll be able to play in Week 3's game against the Falcons. Geoff Swaim would once again by the Cowboys' third tight end Sunday if Hanna is eventually ruled out.

Hanna (left knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Hanna was listed as questionable heading into the Week 2 matchup, but didn't progress enough to the point where the Cowboys felt he would be able to suit up Sunday. With Hanna slated for an inactive designation, Geoff Swaim is expected to make his NFL debut as the Cowboys' third tight end behind Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar.

Hanna, the Cowboys No. 2 tight end, saw five targets. They all came when Tony Romo had exhausted all other options and needed a mere safety valve. Even owners in the deepest of fantasy leagues can ignore Hanna.

Mon Jul 22 201318:21Cowboys TE Hanna battling a hamstring strain
Cowboys TE James Hanna is sitting out early camp practices with a hamstring strain.
"We don't think his injury is really, really significant, and he'll be back soon enough," coach Jason Garrett said. Hanna is expected to see a bigger role on offense this season, and many Cowboys beat writers like him as the No. 2 tight end -- ahead of second-round rookie Gavin Escobar. Dallas is expected to employ more two-tight sets after the release of FB Lawrence Vickers.

Cowboys TE James Hanna believes he'll have a bigger role in 2013 despite the addition of Gavin Escobar.
"As practice has gone on, I feel like I've got a chance to get on the field quite a bit," Hanna said. The Cowboys are expected to use more two-tight end sets this season, but Escobar should be the primary beneficiary opposite Jason Witten provided he doesn't flop in camp.

Thu Jan 10 201317:59Cowboys TE Hanna to gain bigger role?
Cowboys TE James Hanna is expected to be a "more prominent piece of the passing game" next season.
The 2012 sixth-rounder overtook John Phillips as the No. 2 tight end down the stretch, recording seven of his eight receptions in the final four games. An excellent athlete, Hanna offers much more potential than impending free agent Phillips as a receiver.
