Sun Aug 30 201510:53Posey will be released by Jets
Posey will be released by the Jets, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports.
Posey played in each of the Jets' first three preseason games, hauling in seven passes for 60 yards and a score. It wasn't quite enough to make the first round of cuts, however, as the former Houston Texan will now be in search of a new home. There are plenty of teams out there that lack the wide receiver depth of the Jets, so Posey shouldn't be searching for long.

Posey was traded to the Jets on Friday along with a combination of draft picks for the No. 70 overall selection, Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Texans ultimately used the pick on Arizona State wideout Jaelen Strong, who is the leading candidate to start opposite DeAndre Hopkins this season. Posey, meanwhile, is coming off a tough second season, as he struggled to earn playing time following an Achilles injury suffered his rookie year. He could have a difficult time claiming a roster spot with the Jets, who bolstered their receiver corps this offseason with the additions of Brandon Marshall and second-round draft choice Devin Smith.
Sun Dec 28 201411:46Posey (calf) inactive for Sunday's game against Jaguars
Posey (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Posey was inactive last week with no injury, so even if the calf hadn't been an issue, he still may not have cracked the active gameday roster. Damaris Johnson and Keshawn Martin will back up starters DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson.
Sun Dec 21 201411:56Posey inactive for Sunday's game against Ravens
Posey is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens, the Texans' official site reports.
With both Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins in uniform Sunday, Posey rejoins the ranks of the Texans' inactives on Sunday.

Posey, who started in place of the injured Andre Johnson (concussion) on Sunday against the Colts, finished with one catch on one target for 30 yards.
Posey caught a 30-yard pass from backup Tom Savage, who was in the game after starter Ryan Fitzpatrick was knocked out with a knee injury. However, four other players caught at least two passes, so Posey's insertion in the lineup didn't exactly lead to fantasy success. If Johnson is cleared through the concussion protocol and can return for Week 16 against the Ravens, Posey could return to the inactive list, where he was for the first 14 games of the season.

Posey will start Sunday against the Colts in place of the injured Andre Johnson (concussion), according to ESPN.com.
Posey was inactive for the first 13 games of the season, and while he was expected to be active for Sunday's game, it's a bit of a surprise that he leapfrogged Keshawn Martin on the depth chart to start opposite DeAndre Hopkins.

Posey "has a good chance of being active" for Sunday's game against the Colts, according to head coach Bill O'Brien, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Posey has been inactive for the first 13 games this season, but is in line to play Sunday because of the concussion suffered by Andre Johnson, who is still progressing through the NFL's concussion protocol.

Posey has been inactive for all seven games this season because head coach Bill O'Brien hasn't needed him in the game plan, the Houston Chronicle reports. "When we look at our 46 (man) gameday roster, we're looking at special teams, we're looking at our offensive game plan," O'Brien said.
On game days, O'Brien has carried Keyshawn Martin and Damaris Johnson, both of whom are experienced return specialists. Additionally, Houston's offensive game plan for most weeks is to ride running back Arian Foster as much as it can. So, the opportunities aren't there for Posey.

Posey was inactive for Week 1 because head coach Bill O'Brien wanted more defensive backs and linebackers active against Washington, CSN Houston reports.
While sitting a wideout in favor of another defensive player may be a sound game plan strategy, it is surprising that newcomer Damaris Johnson was active ahead of Posey. Johnson apparently got the nod because of his kick/punt return abilities. If both players are active in a given week, we presume Posey would enter the game at wideout before Johnson.

Posey is listed as inactive for Sunday's regular season opener against the Redskins, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Posey's absence comes as a surprise, since he led the Texans with 10 receptions during the preseason and was expected to serve as the team's No. 3 wideout entering Week 1. The third-year receiver was not listed on Houston's injury report this week, so it's unclear why he won't play Sunday. With Posey out, Keshawn Martin figures to move up the depth chart behind the Texans' starting duo Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

Posey had four catches and a team-leading eight targets for 24 yards in Thursday night's preseason loss to the 49ers.
Posey finishes the preseason with a team-high 10 receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. While nothing is official yet, he's probably done enough to emerge as the third receiver on the depth chart ahead of Keshawn Martin and Mike Thomas.

Posey caught one pass (one target) for eight yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over Atlanta. He drew the start at wideout as Andre Johnson didn't dress for the game.
Texans' quarterbacks threw to many pass catchers Saturday -- 14 players were targeted -- so we're not reading too much into the lone target for Posey. What should be noted is that Posey was part of the two-minute drill offense when he scored his touchdown. We'll start to get a clearer picture of the wideout depth chart beginning next week. Posey is among a group that includes Keshawn Martin and Mike Thomas.

Posey caught one pass for nine yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals.
Posey, who is the favorite to serve as the Texans' No. 3 wide receiver, drew the start with Andre Johnson (hamstring) sidelined. Posey could face a challenge from Keshawn Martin and/or Mike Thomas, but Martin wasn't even one of the first three receivers into Saturday's game, according to The Houston Chronicle's Brian T. Smith. The Texans are expected to lean on two-tight end formations, and the team's starting wideout duo of Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins should be a good one. With Arian Foster (undisclosed) also likely to gobble up targets, there won't be much left for Posey and the other non-Hopkins/Johnson receivers. However, having the inside track to the No. 3 role may put Posey just one injury away from consistent playing time.

Posey had a couple of nice catches working with the first team offense in Sunday's 11-on-11s, CSN Houston reports.
Posey, who was being considered as a slot receiver, has been getting reps on the outside with the first team because Andre Johnson (hamstring) remains sidelined.
Thu Jun 19 201408:36DeVier Posey has nose in front for slot job
DeVier Posey is the leading candidate for the Texans slot job.
Coming off a 2012 Achilles' tear, Posey had just 15 catches for 155 yards and no scores in 14 games last season. He'll improve on that this year, but won't get on the fantasy radar while playing behind Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins on a team that wants to defend and run the ball to win. The third receiver job isn't expected to be a big one for new coach Bill O'Brien, who projects to run plenty of "12" formations.

Sun Dec 15 201316:51DeVier Posey suffers high-ankle sprain
Texans WR DeVier Posey suffered a high-ankle sprain in Houston's Week 15 loss to the Colts.
With only two weeks to go, it's likely a season-ending injury for the second-year pro. Posey was held without a catch before going down against Houston, and has just 15 grabs on the year. Posey is not a must-hold in Dynasty leagues, but he's not a must-drop, either.

Sun Nov 24 201318:44DeVier Posey has one-catch day in loss
DeVier Posey caught just one pass for five yards in Houston's Week 12 loss to the Jaguars.
Posey's fourth-quarter catch was his only target, while he ceded snaps to Keshawn Martin. Posey isn't on the WR5 radar for a team plumbing new weekly depths.

Sun Nov 10 201319:49DeVier Posey goes for 3 catches, 34 yards
DeVier Posey caught three balls for 34 yards in the Texans' Week 10 loss to the Cardinals.
Posey has taken over as the Texans' third receiver behind Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins. Outside of Dynasty and 20-team leagues, the 2012 third-round pick out of Ohio State carries no fantasy appeal. Posey would need a Johnson or Hopkins injury to be worth consideration in standard settings.

Mon Nov 4 201300:45Posey catches three passes in Week 9
DeVier Posey had three catches for 23 yards in Week 9 against the Colts.
He was targeted four times in the passing game. Posey has replaced Keshawn Martin as the No. 3 receiver, but doesn't have a defined role in the offense. He can continue to be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Sun Oct 20 201320:24DeVier Posey has 42-yard catch
DeVier Posey caught a 42-yard pass in Houston's Week 7 loss to the Chiefs.
Posey's sixth catch of the season more than doubled his 2013 yardage total. There's no reason to believe his role will increase any time soon.
