Allen (ankle) caught his only target for 21 yards in Thursday's 27-20 win over the Texans.
Allen's return predictably coincided with quiet games for both him and Coby Fleener, who caught two passes for nine yards on three targets. T.Y. Hilton and Andre Johnson accounted for 16 of the Colts' 29 targets, with Matt Hasselbeck largely honing in on his wideouts. Even if Andrew Luck (shoulder) returns, both Allen and Fleener will be unreliable, touchdown-dependent options for Week 6 against the Patriots.

Allen (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday's game against the Texans.
Though Allen is out there if you need him, the presence of fellow TE Coby Fleener makes Allen a hit-or-miss fantasy lineup option in his return to action on Thursday.

Allen (ankle) is listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Texans.
While Allen looks poised to return to action, the presence of fellow TE Coby Fleener makes Allen a hit-or-miss fantasy lineup option these days, given the time-share in play here.

Allen (ankle) was listed as a full practice participant for the second straight day on Tuesday's injury report.
With Allen on track to return from a one-game absence, Coby Fleener figures to lose some snaps and targets. When both tight ends are healthy, neither can be counted on for much of anything.

Allen (ankle) was listed as a full practice participant on the Colts' Monday injury report.
While Monday's workout was presumably not an intense one, the probable designation would appear to bode well for Allen's chances of being available for Thursday's game against the Texans.
Sun Oct 4 201511:45Allen (ankle) inactive for Sunday's game against Jacksonville
Allen (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
Allen was able to practice in a limited fashion both Thursday and Friday, but he's being held out of Thursday's game. Coby Fleener should get the bulk of targets at tight end as a result, although he'll have Matt Hasselbeck throwing him the ball instead of Andrew Luck, who is out with a shoulder injury.

Allen (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Allen was able to practice in a limited fashion both Thursday and Friday, which suggests that he has a decent shot to suit up for Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff. If Allen is able to play this week, however, it's unclear who would be throwing him the ball, as starting QB Andrew Luck is also listed as questionable on the Colts' Week 4 injury report.
Thu Oct 1 201515:50Allen (ankle) returned to limited practice Thursday
Allen (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
After not practicing Wednesday, Allen's return Thursday bodes well for his chances of rejoining the Colts' lineup for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.
Wed Sep 30 201511:45Allen (ankle) did not suit up for practice Wednesday
Allen (ankle) did not suit up for practice Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
The report relays that Allen said Tuesday that he expects to play Sunday against the Jaguars, but his absence from practice Wednesday suggests that such an outcome is not a lock. The tight end's outlook on that front would of course brighten should he return to practice in some capacity Thursday.
Fri Sep 25 201512:58Dwayne Allen: Ruled Out
Allen (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
With Allen unavailable this week, fellow TE Coby Fleener is a candidate to see an uptick in targets Sunday, while Jack Doyle also figures to see added snaps in the Colts' Week 3 offense.
Fri Sep 25 201511:47Allen (ankle) did not take part in Friday's practice
Allen (ankle) did not take part in Friday's practice, Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Allen did not practice at all this week, so it will likely be a stretch for him to play in Week 3. The Colts will provide an update on Allen's availability for Sunday's game against the Titans sometime Friday afternoon.
Thu Sep 24 201514:51Allen (ankle) did not practice Thursday
Allen (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
A return to practice, in some capacity, on Friday would give Allen a chance to suit up against the Titans on Sunday, but if he ends up ruled out for the contest, or limited at all, fellow TE Coby Fleener would be in line for added opportunities in the Indy offense in Week 3.
Wed Sep 23 201512:42Though Allen (ankle) spotted catching passes Wednesday
Though Allen (ankle) was spotted catching passes Wednesday, he's not in line to participate in practice, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
We'll revisit Allen's status no later than Thursday, but at this stage the Colts consider the tight end day-to-day in advance of Sunday's game against the Titans.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Tuesday that Allen (ankle) is day-to-day, reports Kevin Bowen of Colts.com.
Allen's had trouble staying healthy to this point in his career, but his injury from Monday's game against the Jets doesn't sound too serious. If Allen misses any time, Coby Fleener gets a large value boost, as the two tight ends typically limit each other's upside.
Mon Sep 21 201522:20Dwayne Allen: Leaves With Ankle Injury
Allen left Monday night's game against the Jets with an ankle injury and will not return, reports Kevin Bowen of Colts.com.
Allen suffered from ankle issues much of last season, so this is troubling news for those who've been counting on him as a TE2. Coby Fleener should see an expanded role in the Colts' offense while Allen remains out.

Allen had three receptions for 17 yards, including a six-yard touchdown, on six targets in Sunday's loss at Buffalo.
With 53 snaps on offense Allen got more playing time that fellow tight end Coby Fleener (37 snaps). Fleener also had just one target and one catch. While Allen got more opportunities Sunday, the duo has alternated more productive weeks when both have been healthy.
Sun Aug 30 201503:20Allen caught two passes (five targets) for 25 yards in Saturday'...
Allen caught two passes (five targets) for 25 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams.
With Coby Fleener (ankle) held out due to a seemingly minor injury, Allen was busy in the first half of Saturday's game. Although few tight ends can match his combination of blocking and receiving skills, Allen will likely find targets hard to come by, at least while Fleener is healthy.

Allen and Coby Fleener are both listed as starters on the Colts' initial depth chart, Kevin Bowen of the Colts' official site reports.
Given that the Colts don't use fullbacks and don't even have one on their training camp roster, the real threat to Allen and Fleener's respective snap counts comes from the team's wide receivers (and each other). Allen is a good blocker and reliable receiver, but he already had trouble getting targets, even before the Colts added Andre Johnson and Phillip Dorsett.
Mon Jan 12 201501:23Allen caught 4-of-4 targets for 30 yards and touchdown in Sunday...
Allen caught 4-of-4 targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-13 win over the Broncos.
This is about what was expected from Allen, who typically doesn't see a ton of targets, but is pretty efficient with what he gets, and also draws a high percentage of his looks in the end zone. Six different Colts had at least four targets Sunday, and fellow tight end Coby Fleener got six. Fleener and Allen both have key roles in the offense, with Fleener focused primarily on receiving, while Allen is the more well-rounded tight end. The AFC Championship Game should provide a nice matchup for Allen, as teams often funnel more targets to their secondary receivers when facing Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis. Ravens tight end Owen Daniels caught 4-of-11 targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.

Allen (knee) caught three passes for 30 yards in Sunday's 26-10 wild card win over the Bengals.
In his return to action, Allen was targeted three times, while Coby Fleener saw two looks (notching one catch for 18 yards) and Jack Doyle caught all three of his targets for nine yards. With a committee approach at tight end these days, Allen remains a hit-or-miss lineup option, though his red zone ability does give him a chance to help fantasy owners on any given week.
