LHP Colt Hynes was acquired by the Athletics in a trade with the Indians. The Indians signed Hynes to a minor league deal on Aug. 4 after he was released by the Blue Jays. He made one appearance at Triple-A Columbus before being sent to Double-A Akron.

The Cleveland Indians acquired outfielder Coco Crisp and cash from the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday in exchange for minor league left-hander Colt Hynes.The Indians completed the trade for the switch-hitting Crisp after reports of the deal were reported Tuesday night. The Blue Jays designated Hynes for assignment Tuesday, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.

Hynes was removed from the 40-man roster to open up a spot for Jeff Francis. His next step will be determined after his waiver period comes to a close.

Hynes blew a save and took the loss Thursday for Double-A New Hampshire after giving up four earned runs in 0.1 innings against Portland.

Hynes, who started the season with the Blue Jays, has fallen precipitously this season. After making five appearances for the Jays in April, he was sent down to Triple-A. From there, things continued going poorly for the 30-year-old lefty, who was sent down to Double-A at the end of June. For Double-A New Hampshire, he holds a 3.72 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 9.2 innings.

Hynes was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Hynes has allowed two earned runs on eight hits over three innings this year, but will be sent down in favor of veteran left-hander Jeff Francis. He may get the call once again if the need for bullpen depth arises at any point.

Hynes has earned a spot on the Blue Jays' 25-man roster, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

Hynes was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays last August, and finished the season out in Triple-A to the tune of a 1.04 ERA and 0.61 WHIP over 8.2 innings. He apparently impressed throughout spring training, and will enter the 2015 campaign as a member of the Jays' bullpen.

Hynes has spent the year at Triple-A Albuquerque, posting a 4.08 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 in 42 appearances, and he figures to play out the season as organizational depth there after passing through waivers. The team acquired Kevin Correia from the Twins on Saturday and needed to clear a 40-man roster spot.

Hynes' results have been mixed this year for Triple-A Albuquerque with a 4.63 ERA, but a solid 40:9 K:BB in 46.2 innings.

The 5'11" 29 year-old left-hander looks unlikely to be a late-season callup unless the ERA starts a rapid decline shortly.
