Hasselbeck (illness) was a full participant in Monday's practice.
Hasselbeck battled through a bacterial infection to lead the Colts to a Week 5 victory in the absence of starting quarterback Andrew Luck (shoulder). Although Hasselbeck's illness has since passed, Luck was also a full participant in Monday's practice, likely indicating he's ready to return to the lineup and thus relegate Hasselbeck to his usual backup position for this Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Hasselbeck (illness) completed 18 of 29 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's 27-20 win over the Texans.
Hasselbeck impressively fought through the illness that's been bothering him all week, even though it was reported before the game that he's still quite sick. He's been better than expected in his two starts, but with the extra rest before a matchup with the Patriots, Andrew Luck (shoulder) will likely be back for Week 6. If not, Hasselbeck has at least proven that he's an option for two-quarterback formats.

Hasselbeck (illness), who will start Thursday's game in Houston, said his energy levels are low and he hopes he can make it through all four quarters, NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports.
Hasselbeck has been dealing with a bacterial infection since the weekend, and he doesn't seem to have recovered. With Andrew Luck (shoulder) inactive, the Colts will turn to Josh Johnson if Hasselbeck can't make it through the game.

Hasselbeck (illness) will start Thursday's game in Houston, Thursday's game in Houston, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
Despite dealing with a virus since Sunday, Hasselbeck is in better shape than Andrew Luck (shoulder), who will be inactive for Thursday night's game. Hasselbeck was decent in last week's overtime win over Jacksonville, but the downgrade from Luck to the 40-year-old severely limits Indy's offense.
Thu Oct 8 201510:54Matt Hasselbeck: Appears on track to start Thursday
Though Andrew Luck (shoulder) is slated to throw pre-game, Hasselbeck (illness) is expected to start Thursday's contest against the Texans, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Hasselbeck remains under the weather after dealing with a virus, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, but it appears as though the Colts are inclined to play it safe with Luck in Week 5, with an eye toward having him ready for the team's Oct. 18 game against the Patriots. Confirmation, either way, however, of Hasselbeck's anticipated Thursday assignment, may not arrive until closer the Colts' 8:25 ET kickoff Thursday.

Hasselbeck (illness) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Texans.
Hasselbeck missed practice Tuesday, but was listed as a full participant Wednesday. Still, with both Hasselbeck and Andrew Luck officially listed as questionable this week, the Colts bolstered their Week 5 QB depth in advance of Thursday's contest by re-signing Josh Johnson.
Tue Oct 6 201515:51Hasselbeck missed Tuesday's practice due to illness
Hasselbeck missed Tuesday's practice due to an illness, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
Even with the Colts playing Thursday night, Hasselbeck should have time to recover. The bigger question mark is Andrew Luck's shoulder, with Hasselebeck in line to start if the Colts' star signal-caller can't go.

Hasselbeck completed 30-of-47 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's overtime win over Jacksonville.
In his first start since 2012, Hasselbeck showed that he can still manage a game and pick up a win against a division opponent, keeping care of the ball against Jacksonville. Indianapolis fans are likely hoping that this is the most they see of Hasselbeck this season, but with a quick turnaround before Thursday night's game against Houston, Andrew Luck may not be healthy enough to start, leaving the keys to the Colts' offense with Hasselbeck.
Sun Oct 4 201511:36Matt Hasselbeck: Will start at QB against Jacksonville
Hasselbeck has been confirmed as the starting quarterback Sunday against Jacksonville with Andrew Luck inactive with a shoulder injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Luck reportedly has no structural damage in his shoulder, but the Colts are making him inactive to take no chances. It's a promising matchup for Hasselbeck, who took first-team snaps during practice this week, as the Jaguars come in allowing the seventh-most passing yards per game this season.

Hasselbeck has not been told he'll be the starter for Sunday's game against Jacksonville despite media reports that Andrew Luck will not play due to a shoulder injury, NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports.
Multiple media outlets have reported Luck will be held out of the game with Hasselbeck getting the start at quarterback. However, it's possible the Colts could change their minds based on how Luck looks during pregame warmups. We'll need to wait for confirmation from the Colts before kickoff to be certain Hasselbeck will start.

Hasselbeck took all the first-team snaps at quarterback for a third consecutive practice Friday and will start if Andrew Luck can't play due to a shoulder injury, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Hasselbeck hasn't started a NFL game in nearly three years and has appeared in just seven games the last two years. Still, he'd get a decent matchup against Jacksonville at home and should be familiar with the offense as Luck's understudy the pat two seasons.
Thu Feb 26 201519:52Hasselbeck signed one-year contract with Colts
Hasselbeck signed a one-year contract with the Colts, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.
Hasselbeck will return for a third straight year as the top backup to Andrew Luck, who has yet to miss a game through three NFL seasons. It's an ideal gig for the 39-year-old former Seahawk, as he hasn't been needed in a meaningful situation since signing with the Colts in 2013.

Tue Jul 8 201410:15Hasselbeck now wants to play past 2014
Colts backup QB Matt Hasselbeck said he now wants to continue playing past 2014.
Hasselbeck is entering his age-39 season and the final year of his contract. Last October, Hasselbeck said this season would be his last. He's apparently had a change of heart and wants to remain Andrew Luck's backup for a couple more playoff runs in hopes of reaching the Super Bowl. We'll see how Hasselbeck feels after another grueling training camp and long season.

Sun Oct 20 201312:50Matt Hasselbeck planning one more year
Colts backup QB Matt Hasselbeck plans to retire after the 2014 season.
"I'd like to do one more year than call it a career," Hasselbeck said. "I'm hoping for a good year this year and next." Hasselbeck has attempted just three passes behind Andrew Luck this season, but is signed through 2014. He was ineffective when pressed into action in 2012, but due a relatively affordable $2.25 million in 2014, he'll most likely be brought back. Hasselbeck turned 38 last month.

Mon Mar 18 201321:21Colts close to two-year deal with Hasselbeck
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Colts are close to a two-year deal with free agent Matt Hasselbeck.
The Titans released Hasselbeck just five hours ago, but the Colts moved fast on the soon-to-be 38-year-old. Hasselbeck will replace Drew Stanton as the backup to Andrew Luck, and the grizzled veteran will be a nice sounding board for the second-year quarterback. With OC Pep Hamilton installing a more dink-and-dunk offense, Hasselbeck will be capable of stepping in should Luck miss time with an injury.

Mon Mar 18 201318:41Report: Colts in discussion with Hasselbeck
USA Today reports the Colts are already in discussions with free agent Matt Hasselbeck to make him their backup quarterback.
Mike Garafolo says the two sides "could soon agree" to a deal. Hasselbeck, 38 in September, isn't interested in finding a team where he can compete for a starting job, but a place where he has a shot to get back to the playoffs.

Mon Mar 18 201318:33Report: Giants interested in Hasselbeck
The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Giants do have interest in free agent Matt Hasselbeck, but they're not expected to sign him.
The G-Men don't currently have a capable backup on the roster with David Carr being a free agent, so the Hasselbeck idea makes sense. The soon-to-be 38-year-old is expected to be above their price range, though. Eli Manning and Curtis Painter are the only quarterbacks employed by the Giants at the moment.
