Sun Mar 1008:58Brandon Nimmo Could Be Moved Down In The Lineup
After a season that fell short of expectations, the New York Mets are reportedly open to tinkering with the lineup, including potentially moving outfielder Brandon Nimmo down from the leadoff spot. The lefty had a bit of a power surge last season, smacking a career-high 24 home runs. If he can maintain that power he could provide some protection in the lineup for Pete Alonso, but it's uncertain who would fill the void at the top if they were to make the change, although they do have three intriguing options in Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor, and Starling Marte. The case could be made, however, that each of them has their own issues that render them not viable at the top of the order. Regardless, the former first-round draft pick should continue to be an on-base machine, with a career .380 OBP. Being at the top of the lineup would provide him more at-bats and would boost his run totals, but he'd presumably be in line for more RBI opportunities if moved down. He doesn't steal many bases, so the move might be a wash for fantasy purposes. As it stands, the 30-year-old is going off draft boards around pick 189, but RotoBaller ranks him higher, at 174 overall.

Mon Feb 1918:08Harrison Bader To Play Center, Brandon Nimmo In Left
Outfielder Harrison Bader is set to serve as the New York Mets' center fielder this year, with Brandon Nimmo shifting to left field, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. Bader will give the Mets an upgrade in center over Nimmo. However, the 29-year-old Bader has had trouble staying healthy and took a step back offensively last year with a .232/.274/.348 slash line with seven homers, 40 RBI and 20 steals in 98 games with the Yankees and Reds. Bader hasn't played in over 100 games since 2021 and will mostly be appealing to fantasy managers for his speed in deeper mixed leagues while hitting near the bottom of the order in New York. Nimmo, meanwhile, will be a strong No. 3 outfielder in fantasy after slashing .274/.363/.466 with 24 homers, 68 RBI and 89 runs in 152 games in 2023 as the Mets' leadoff hitter.

Sat Sep 30 202321:11Brandon Nimmo Hits Injured List With Shoulder Sprain
The New York Mets have placed outfielder Brandon Nimmo (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right shoulder. Nimmo had to leave during the fifth inning of Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins as a result of a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, but it shouldn't affect his availability for the start of 2024. The 30-year-old hit for more power in the first year of his new Mets contract, matching a career high with 30 doubles and setting a new career best with 24 home runs in 682 trips to the dish. Despite Nimmo's speed and MLB's new base-stealing rules, he didn't unlock that area of his game with just three swipes. He should remain a solid source of runs and average next year with a big boost in fantasy leagues that count walks.

Sat Sep 30 202313:56Brandon Nimmo Not In The Lineup For Game 1 Of Saturday's Doubleheader
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (leg, shoulder) is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. Nimmo has been dealing with a sore right leg and has been in and out of the lineup over the past week. It's not yet known if he will play in the second game of the doubleheader. Nimmo has put together a nice season overall for the Mets, slashing .274/.363/.466 with 24 home runs, 68 RBI, and three stolen bases over 592 at-bats. Both the home runs and the RBI are career highs for the 30-year-old. Rafael Ortega is starting in center field and batting leadoff against Taijuan Walker in Saturday's opening bill.

Fri Sep 29 202312:08Brandon Nimmo's Season Likely Over
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (shoulder) has an AC joint issue in his right shoulder and will have an MRI exam on Friday to determine if there is "any rotator damage," according to manager Buck Showalter. It sounds like Nimmo will not play in the final series of the 2023 season this weekend. If Nimmo has damage to his rotator cuff and requires surgery, he may not be ready for the start of next season. The 30-year-old left-handed hitter will finish his eighth season in New York with a .274/.363/.466 slash line, an .829 OPS, a career-high 24 home runs, 30 doubles, six triples, career-high 68 RBI, three stolen bases and 89 runs scored in 682 trips to the plate and 152 games.

Sat Aug 12 202312:22Brandon Nimmo Battling Quad Injury, Out In Game 1
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (quadriceps) has been dealing with an unspecified injury near his left quadriceps muscle, which initially cost him time earlier this month. The Mets have been letting Nimmo play through the issue to an extent, but he's out of the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves. Manager Buck Showalter hopes to use Nimmo in left field for Game 2. Rafael Ortega is in center field in Game 1 and is hitting leadoff against Braves right-hander Allan Winans. Nimmo remains a solid source of runs and on-base percentage in fantasy, but he's been struggling of late, going 7-for-40 (.175) with no homers, a double, one RBI and four runs scored in 12 games (11 starts) since July 26.

Fri Aug 4 202316:25Brandon Nimmo Returns To Mets Lineup
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (quadriceps) is back in center field and in his customary leadoff spot on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Dean Kremer. Nimmo missed the last three games this week due to tightness in his quadriceps muscle, but it wasn't considered very serious and he's back in there now. The 30-year-old has been cold at the plate since the All-Star break, but he should remain a strong source of on-base percentage and runs for fantasy managers while also providing the occasional home run. Nimmo is currently slashing .256/.353/.431 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, three stolen bases and 61 runs scored through 399 at-bats in 2023. Get him back into your starting lineups in fantasy.

Thu Aug 3 202312:20Brandon Nimmo Remains Out Thursday
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (quadriceps) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. Rafael Ortega is starting in center field for the Mets and is hitting eighth against Royals right-hander Brady Singer. Nimmo will miss his third straight game after he was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with minor quadriceps tightness. The 30-year-old doesn't think it's anything serious, though, so hopefully he'll be back in the lineup on Friday for the start of a series against the Baltimore Orioles. When he's back, Nimmo will continue to serve as the Mets' leadoff hitter the rest of the way. He's valuable in all fantasy leagues for his on-base percentage (.353) and runs scored (61), and he also has 15 home runs in 399 at-bats.

Wed Aug 2 202317:48Brandon Nimmo Not Playing Against Royals
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (quadriceps) said he's at about 90 percent on Wednesday but won't be in the lineup due to left-quadriceps tightness. Nimmo is day-to-day and not particularly worried about the injury, so there's a good chance he'll be back in the lineup on Thursday for the series finale against the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old was scratched from Tuesday's lineup. Despite the Mets selling off some very valuable pieces at this year's trade deadline, Nimmo should still be an asset in most fantasy baseball leagues for his on-base ability and runs scored while hitting at the top of the Mets lineup. The center fielder is currently slashing .256/.353/.431 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, three steals and 61 runs scored in 399 at-bats this year.

Wed Aug 2 202301:07Brandon Nimmo Dealing With Quad Tightness
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (quadriceps) was scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the Kansas City Royals with quadriceps tightness, according to manager Buck Showalter. Nimmo was held out of the lineup for the first time since early June after his quadriceps muscle tightened up on him during batting practice before the game. It sounds like a day-to-day injury, but fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the 30-year-old is held out of Wednesday's game as a precaution. Nimmo will be looking to turn the page in August after hitting just .161 (14-for-87) with four home runs, four doubles, eight RBI and 15 runs scored in 23 games in July. Even if he doesn't run much or have a ton of power, Nimmo remains valuable in most fantasy leagues for his on-base percentage (.353) and as a source of runs (61) as an everyday player when healthy.

Fri Jun 9 202302:01Brandon Nimmo Flexes Some Power With Grand Slam
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo went 1-for-5 with his first career grand slam and an additional run scored in Thursday's 13-10 shootout loss to the Atlanta Braves. The 30-year-old's bomb was just the fourth hit over his last 28 at-bats. Nimmo has shaped up as a fairly low-end fantasy option in leagues which don't count walks. The speedy centerfielder hasn't tried to steal a base since getting caught doing so back on May 4. Nimmo remains a very good source of runs and average as New York's everyday leadoff hitter. The on-base machine is slashing .283/.373/.422 with 36 runs scored, five dingers, and 25 RBI this season. It's worth noting that Nimmo also owns a career-high 48.6% hard-hit rate in 2023.

Thu May 25 202315:37Brandon Nimmo In Top 25 In NL In Runs Scored
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo added three hits and a run scored to his season line Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs. Nimmo has hit safely in five of his last six games and has scored a run in four of his last seven games. With a .295 average, four home runs, 27 runs scored, 19 RBI and three stolen bases entering play Thursday, Nimmo is living up to both the lofty contract the Mets gave him over the offseason and his preseason fantasy expectations. He looks like he'll continue to be a safe bet for balanced fantasy production for the rest of this season.

In the New York Mets' win over the Rockies on Friday, Brandon Nimmo played a crucial role, going 2-for-3 with a walk, double, home run, RBI, and run scored. His home run was the lone score in the game. Nimmo was on a brief dry spell before the contest, with just four hits and zero walks in his last 25 at-bats. Despite this, he has a season batting average of .311 with three home runs, 18 runs, 14 RBIs, and three stolen bases.

Sun Apr 16 202301:22Brandon Nimmo Nails Go-Ahead Double Versus Oakland
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo led his team to a 3-2 win over Oakland on Saturday. The 30-year-old went 2-for-4. However, his most significant accomplishment on the day was a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh, which eventually sealed the deal. The Mets have now won three-straight games, with Nimmo one of the players responsible. He's batting .289 this season with 12 hits. He also had eight RBI, with five coming in the last three games. He'll look to close out the series with the A's versus JP Sears. Nimmo has gone 2-for-3 lifetime against the lefty, although he'd be a must-start regardless of who is on the bump based on his stellar play of late.

Mon Apr 3 202312:01Brandon Nimmo Back In The Lineup Monday
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is back in the starting lineup on Monday after he started on the bench against a southpaw on Sunday. Nimmo is starting in center field and is back in his usual leadoff spot on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Freddy Peralta. The 30-year-old is off to a slow start in 2023, going 2-for-10 with a double, three RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, but he also has four walks and no strikeouts in the first four games. Nimmo should remain in most starting lineups in single-year leagues for his great on-base skills. With Nimmo back in there on Monday, Tommy Pham will head back to the bench.

Thu Mar 23 202317:05Brandon Nimmo Triples In Minor-League Game
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ankle, knee) tripled in five plate appearances in a minor-league spring game on Thursday. Nimmo has been out of Grapefruit League action for the last week due to low-grade sprains in his right ankle and right knee, but Thursday's performance was a good sign for his availability on Opening Day a week from now. When healthy, the 29-year-old will hit leadoff for the Mets and is an excellent source for on-base percentage and runs scored atop one of the best lineups in baseball. Injuries have been Nimmo's downfall, but he played in a career-high 151 contests in 2022 and hit .274/.367/.433 with a league-leading seven triples, 16 home runs, 64 RBI and 102 runs scored in 673 plate appearances.

Wed Mar 22 202317:31Brandon Nimmo Could Be Ready For Games This Weekend
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ankle, knee) may play in Grapefruit League games this weekend. Nimmo played in a minor league game on Wednesday, and manager Buck Showalter said he's hopeful Nimmo and reliever Brooks Raley (hamstring) will play this weekend. Nimmo suffered a sprained right knee and ankle last Friday, but he seems to be progressing quickly. Barring any setbacks, he may be ready for Opening Day, where he'll sit atop a loaded Mets' lineup, as he gets on base and scores a ton of runs.

Tue Mar 21 202320:31Brandon Nimmo Tests His Ankle/Knee
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ankle, knee) tested his sprained ankle/knee on Tuesday at camp. Team officials liked what they saw from him and said that Nimmo is progressing, although it's unclear what that means for his availability on Opening Day on March 30. The 29-year-old is dealing with low-grade sprains in both his right ankle and right knee, so there's a good chance he won't be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season. But if Nimmo does open up on the injured, he may not be there for long. When healthy, he's an excellent on-base machine for the Mets and fantasy managers alike, and he's also a great source of runs atop a stacked New York lineup.

Sat Mar 18 202322:23Brandon Nimmo Diagnosed With Two Injuries
New York Mets centerfielder Brandon Nimmo (leg) was diagnosed with a low-grade sprain in his right knee and ankle. Nimmo was in the act of sliding toward second base in Saturday's matchup against the Miami Marlins and failed to execute a proper slide. He was forced to exit the game and reported pain in his right knee the following morning. According to Mets GM Billy Eppler, the 29-year-old is on a week-to-week basis which puts his Opening Day status in jeopardy. The Mets are hoping to reinstate him as early as possible but will take every precaution to ensure that he heals completely. In 2022, Nimmo slashed .274/.367/.433 with 16 home runs and a .800 OPS. The Wyoming native is hoping to put together another healthy season as the Mets compete for their third title.

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (knee) was removed early during Friday's Grapefruit League matchup against the Miami Marlins. The left-handed slugger jammed his knee while sliding into second base. Nimmo needed assistance to get off the field, but the severity of the injury is unknown. The expectation is that the organization is going to have Nimmo undergo additional testing. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Nimmo.
