Sun Feb 13 202215:25Rockies Sign Zach Lee To Minor League Deal
The Colorado Rockies signed right-handed pitcher Zach Lee to a minor league deal. The Rockies have also added catchers Jonathan Morales and Carlos Perez and outfielders Tyler Hill and Wynton Bernard to minor league deals since the calendar flipped to February. Lee, a former first-round pick (28th overall) in 2010, was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Seattle Mariners in 2016 in the deal that sent Chris Taylor to the Dodgers. Lee has only pitched 12 2/3 innings at the major league level and hasn't appeared in a big league game since 2017 with the San Diego Padres. He's still only 30 years old, though, so he will try to win a roster spot out of spring training with the Rockies, assuming there is a spring training this year amid the lockout.

RHP Zach Lee was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he is 3-0 with a 1.56 ERA in three starts. He last pitched Monday against Nashville, throwing 95 pitches in 5 1/3 innings while yielding 10 hits and two runs (one earned). "Lee has been throwing well, and it makes sense that he performed and got rewarded," manager Dave Roberts said. Lee took the roster spot of reliever Yimi Garcia (right biceps soreness), who was placed on the disabled list. The Dodgers did not want to be a pitcher short for the final two games of their series at Coors Field. Lee's one previous big league appearance was a start on July 25, 2015, at the New York Mets when he allowed 11 hits and seven runs in 4 2/3 innings and lost. Lee, who is in his sixth professional season, has been a starter his entire career. Roberts said the team considered calling up a reliever to replace Garcia but opted for Lee. "Just the way he's peforming and being here the next two days," Roberts said, "just the length he can give us, too, because you just never what you can get into at this ballpark."

The Dodgers optioned Lee to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.
Lee got knocked around in his big league debut last Saturday, so it was not a tough call for the Dodgers to send him back to the minors after acquiring fellow starters Mat Latos and Alex Wood prior to the trade deadline. Lee will likely join the Dodgers again at some point later this season, but given the team's newfound rotation depth, he may not make another start for the big club this year.

Lee remains in line to receive the start for the Dodgers next Sunday against the Angels, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Despite getting blitzed for seven runs on 11 hits and a walk while failing to escape the fifth inning in his MLB debut Saturday against the Mets, Lee wasn't demoted back to Triple-A Oklahoma City following the start, suggesting that the Dodgers are tentatively planning to keep him around as their fifth starter. However, with the team's rotation depth thin following the losses of Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) and Brandon McCarthy (elbow) for the remainder of the season, it's expected that the Dodgers will be in the market for a starting pitcher as the July 31 trade deadline approaches. If they indeed inquire an arm, look for Lee to be bumped off of next Sunday's start and instead returned to Triple-A.

Lee (0-1) surrendered 11 hits and seven earned runs in 4.2 innings Saturday.
After spending five years working through the Dodgers' farm system, Lee's major league debut wasn't what he'd hoped for. The former first-round pick didn't even last five innings, allowing 11 hits and seven earned runs to a fired-up Mets offense. With Zack Greinke's inevitable return from paternity leave, and the Dodgers looking to add an ace pitcher before the trade deadline, Lee's status as a starter will likely be short-lived.
Sat Jul 25 201512:48Lee will start for Dodgers in Saturday night's game
Lee will start for the Dodgers in Saturday night's game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
There was a fair uncertainty of confusion in the Dodgers rotation order due to Zach Greinke's paternity leave, as the star pitcher had to choose between a Saturday and Sunday return. Lee will make his major league debut after a lengthy journey through the minors as a former first round pick. The 23-year-old has been excellent in Triple-A in 2015, with a 2.36 ERA and 1.078 WHIP. He's previously seen the majors as a 26th man in a doubleheader, but did not enter the game.
Sat Jul 25 201510:48Zach Lee: Will Make First MLB Start Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Zach Lee was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday and will make his major league debut against the New York Mets, according to MLB.com.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Zach Lee was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday and will make his major league debut against the New York Mets, according to MLB.com. Lee, who has long been considered one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects, posted a 2.36 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP this season in the minor leagues. An injury to Brett Anderson and Zack Greinke's departure from the team on paternity leave have created a temporary spot in the rotation, and the 2010 first-round draft pick will finally get the chance to make his debut after five years in the minor leagues. It is unclear if Lee will remain with the team following Saturday's start, as Anderson and Greinke are expected back soon and the club is in the market to trade for another starting pitcher before next week's non-waiver deadline.

Lee could come up to start Saturday against the Mets, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers have not yet announced a starter for Saturday's game, but Lee is an obvious candidate given that he's scheduled to start that day for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Lee has posted a 2.36 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 50:14 K:BB in 12 starts (68.2 innings) for Oklahoma City this season, with no more than two runs allowed in any of his last six outings.

Lee tossed seven innings of two-run ball to run his record to 9-3 Monday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
In his last six outings, Lee has a 1.41 ERA. With Brandon Beachy struggling in back-to-back starts, Lee's first major league start is looking imminent. Overall this year he's posted an excellent 2.29 ERA with a 6.2 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9.

Lee was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City following Saturday's doubleheader with the Nationals, True Blue LA's Eric Stephen reports.
Lee's first MLB call-up was bittersweet, as he didn't see action in the resumption of Friday's suspended game, nor in the nightcap with Clayton Kershaw spinning a gem. The former first-round pick has made a strong claim for a rotation spot with the Dodgers should a vacancy arise, as he's dominated with Oklahoma City to the tune of a 2.34 ERA and 45:13 K:BB ratio over 61.2 innings.
Sat Jul 18 201515:37Lee called up Saturday to act as Dodgers' 26th man
Lee was called up Saturday to act as the Dodgers' 26th man, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Lee has started in all 11 appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, accruing a 6-3 record, 2.34 ERA, 1.127 WHIP, and 45:13 K:BB in 61.2 innings. Regardless, he'll serve as a long man out of the bullpen if he takes the mound Saturday.
Sat Jul 11 201514:26Lee will get start Saturday at Triple-A Oklahoma City
Lee will get the start Saturday at Triple-A Oklahoma City, OKC Dodgers Announcer Alex Freedman reports.
Lee was a candidate to make a spot start Saturday for the Dodgers, but it turns out he'll remain in the minor leagues for the time being. Brandon Beachy will instead get the nod for the Dodgers against the Brewers on Saturday and it's unclear when Lee will get another shot at a call-up to the major league club.
Thu Jul 9 201519:39Lee candidate to start Saturday's game against Brewers
Lee is a candidate to start Saturday's game against the Brewers, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.
Lee continues to dominate at Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing just 15 earned runs over 56.2 innings of work thus far while striking out 44. He doesn't miss a lot of bats, but he's drastically reduced the number of walks this season, and has seen a corresponding drop in ERA.
