OF Ramon Flores was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. He was recalled while Kole Calhoun was unavailable after a minor hamstring strain. He was 1-for-8 with a RBI in three games. Calhoun returned Thursday night, pinch-hitting in the eighth inning.

OF Ramon Flores was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake City on Tuesday with right fielder Kole Calhoun sidelined temporarily with a strained right hamstring. Flores hit .311 with 21 extra base hits and 49 runs scored in 88 games with the Bees. He played in 104 games with Milwaukee last season, hitting .205 with two home runs and 19 RBIs.

He made his major-league debut with the Mariners last season and hit .219 in 12 games.

OF Ramon Flores was traded by the Mariners to the Brewers for infielder Luis Sardinas. Flores, 23, was acquired by the Mariners from the Yankees along with right-hander Jose Ramirez in exchange for outfielder Dustin Ackley on July 30. With Triple-A Tacoma, he hit .423 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 14 games before being placed on the minor league disabled list on Aug. 15 for the remainder of the season with a right fibular fracture. Prior to being acquired by Seattle, he hit .286 with seven homers and 34 RBIs in 73 game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He appeared in 12 games with the Yankees, hitting .219.

Flores has a broken ankle and will have surgery Thursday, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.

The Mariners will release more information about his recovery following the surgery, but he should be considered out for the rest of the season and questionable heading into spring training next year.

Flores and pitcher Jose Ramirez were traded Thursday to the Mariners for Dustin Ackley, the New York Post reports.

A 23-year-old out of Venezuela, Flores is a left-handed bat who has a good eye at the plate (12.1 percent walk rate at Triple-A this year) and makes good contact (88 percent contact rate). He had short callup earlier this season. He likely will head to Triple-A Tacoma before a September callup.

Flores was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Flores received four at-bats since being recalled July 3, but came up hitless in all of them. With Jacoby Ellsbury and Andrew Miller both coming off the disabled list Wednesday, Flores was one of two to lose a spot on the 25-man roster. He'll rejoin the Triple-A club, but could receive another crack in the majors if another injury occurs.

Flores has been recalled by the Yankees.

Carlos Beltran was placed on the DL on Friday, leaving Flores in a position to serve as a backup outfielder for the Yankees while Garrett Jones slots into the right field spot against right-handed starters for the next two-plus weeks.

The Yankees optioned Flores to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.

Flores was brought up Sunday to provide some outfield depth, but it turns out that was just a temporary move, and he will head back to the Triple-A level for the time being. He will be an option next time the Yankees need to bring up an outfielder from the minor league ranks.

Flores has been recalled by the Yankees from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Flores figures to supplement Brett Gardner and Chris Young in left and center field after Mason Williams hit the DL with shoulder inflammation. He's gone 11-for-35 at Triple-A since getting optioned on June 10.

Flores appeared to be manager Joe Girardi's preferred option in left field with Slade Heathcott and Jacoby Ellsbury on the shelf, but the return of Brendan Ryan has pushed him back to the minors. The fact that he has options remaining likely played into the decision, but the Yankees will now likely turn to Chris Young more in left field until either Ellsbury (knee) or Heathcott (quad) returns from the disabled list.

Flores is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Nationals.

Flores continues as the preferred option in left field, but will receive a day off Wednesday with the left-handed Gio Gonzalez on the mound for the Nationals. He busted out at the plate a bit Tuesday, going 3-for-4 and raising his average from .182 to .269, and will look to build on the effort his next time out.

Flores is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Flores has emerged as manager Joe Girardi's preferred option in left field, where he's started six of the Yankees' previous seven games. However, with southpaw C.J. Wilson on the mound Sunday, Flores will give way to the righty-hitting Chris Young, suggesting a platoon between the two players could develop. Flores will probably need to start hitting soon if he hopes to hang on to the larger portion of the timeshare, as he's gone just 4-for-22 (.182) at the plate to begin his MLB career.

Flores is out of the lineup Tuesday, the YES Network's Meredith Marakovits reports.

He got the start in three straight games for the Yankees with Brett Gardner manning center field with Jacoby Ellsbury on the DL. However, with a lefty on the mound for the Mariners on Tuesday, Chris Young gets the start in left field for the Yankees.
