Fri Feb 1623:08David Dahl Signs Minor-League Deal With Phillies
Free-agent outfielder David Dahl agreed to a minor-league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, pending a physical. Dahl played in only four games at the major-league level in 2023 with the San Diego Padres before inking a minors pact with the Los Angeles Dodgers in June. The 29-year-old former first-round pick played in 54 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City and slashed .282/.354/.493 with an .847 OPS, eight home runs, 39 RBI and 33 runs scored over 237 plate appearances. Dahl was an All-Star with the Colorado Rockies in 2019 when he hit .302 with 15 home runs, but he only played in 100 games that season and couldn't capitalize on his talent due to injuries. In six major-league seasons, Dahl has only played in 331 games.

Tue Jun 20 202320:47Dodgers Sign David Dahl To Minor-League Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed outfielder David Dahl to a minor-league deal on Tuesday, and he will make his debut for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Dahl stays in the National League West after the San Diego Padres designated him for assignment two weeks ago. He is a career .271/.317/.463 hitter over 331 games in the big leagues, but he has a tough time staying healthy and has slashed .199/.236/.303 in 91 games (328 plate appearances) with the Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers and Padres in the last three seasons. At Triple-A El Paso this year, the 29-year-old left-hander was hitting .265 (18-for-68) with five doubles, a homer and 10 RBI in 17 games. He'll represent outfield depth in LA.

Fri May 19 202312:10David Dahl Activated And Optioned To Minors
The San Diego Padres activated outfielder David Dahl (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and then optioned him to Triple-A El Paso. Dahl will most likely be back on the big-league roster at some point in 2023 if injuries strike, but for now he'll bide his time on the farm. The 29-year-old oft-injured outfielder has played in just four games for the Friars so far this season, going 1-for-9 with a solo home run and two strikeouts. He's played in only five games for El Paso, going 7-for-26 (.269) with a double, home run, four RBI and four runs scored. Dahl remains well off the fantasy radar for now as organizational outfield depth in San Diego.

Thu Apr 6 202315:45David Dahl Not Playing Against Braves
San Diego Padres outfielder David Dahl is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. Dahl and Jose Azocar are getting a breather after an off day for San Diego on Wednesday. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter hit well in spring training but is off to a rough start at the plate in his first four regular season games, going 1-for-9 (.111) with a solo home run and two strikeouts. With Dahl starting on the bench, Rougned Odor will get the start in right field for the Friars and hit eighth in the batting order against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Odor, also a left-handed hitter, has gone 1-for-7 with a double and a walk in his first three games for the Padres. He has some pop from the left side, but he'll have little DFS upside in the eight-hole against a tough pitcher.

Tue Apr 4 202314:41David Dahl Back In Lineup Again Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder David Dahl is right back in the starting lineup Tuesday after coming up clutch in Monday's come-from-behind victory. Dahl hit a ninth-inning solo home run to tie the game at four before Ha-Seong Kim followed up with a home run of his own to walk off the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Signed a minor-league deal this winter, Dahl didn't appear in the big leagues at all last season, instead suiting up for the Triple-A affiliates of the Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals where he combined for 10 home runs and three stolen bases across 85 games. With right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. eligible to return from his 80-game PED suspension on April 20, it's unclear if Dahl will remain with the big club for much longer.

Tue Dec 6 202215:29Padres Sign David Dahl To Minor-League Deal
The San Diego Padres signed free-agent outfielder David Dahl to a minor-league deal on Tuesday. Dahl spent the 2022 season toiling in the minor leagues for the Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals, where he hit a combined .279/.345/.442 with 10 home runs, 51 RBI, 54 runs scored and four stolen bases in 359 plate appearances over 85 games for Triple-A Nashville and Triple-A Rochester. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter opted out of his contract with the Nationals in August to become a free agent. Dahl was an All-Star with the Colorado Rockies in his third MLB season in 2019, but injuries have defined his career to this point and he has played in 100 games at the MLB level just once in five seasons.

Tue Jul 12 202208:05David Dahl Released By Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers have released outfielder David Dahl. The 28-year-old signed a minor league contract with the Brewers last year after he was released by the Texas Rangers. He played in 67 games for the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds, this year and produced some solid numbers, slashing .294/.357/.468 with nine home runs, 41 RBI and 44 runs. Dahl struggled to the tune of a .210/.247/.322 slash line with the Rangers last year, but he's a career .272 hitter in the majors and he was an All-Star selection just a few years back in 2019. We'll see if another organization decides to take a chance on him.

Tue Aug 17 202120:54David Dahl Signs Minor-League Deal With Milwaukee
Free-agent outfielder David Dahl signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. He was released by the Texas Rangers at the beginning of August and ultimately signed with the Brewers. The 27-year-old has struggled in 2021, slashing .210/.247/.322 with four homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 63 games. Dahl has shown flashes of upside in the past when he hit .300 with 15 home runs and 48 extra-base hits over 100 games for the Colorado Rockies in 2019. Fantasy managers can leave Dahl on the waiver wire as it will be tough for him to earn a spot in a crowded Brewers outfield that includes Christian Yelich, Avisail Garcia, Lorenzo Cain, and Jackie Bradley Jr.

Mon Aug 2 202118:37David Dahl Designated For Assignment
Texas Rangers outfielder David Dahl was designated for assignment on Monday, the team reported. The 27-year-old is hitting .210/.247/.322 on the season with four home runs, 18 RBI, and two stolen bases on 43 hits. Once an exciting prospect in the Colorado Rockies organization, Dahl has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and has seen a dip in production over his last three campaigns. Any hint of fantasy value Dahl might have had is likely gone at this point.

Sat Jul 24 202122:03Astros lose combined no-hit bid against Rangers in 8th
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros lost their combined no-hit bid in the eighth when Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled to start the inning for the Texas Rangers. Framber Valdez needed 99 pitches to get through six innings and Bryan Abreu took over for the seventh. Ryne Stanek came on in the eighth and Kiner-Falefa smacked his second pitch into shallow center field for the hit. Center fielder Myles Straw sprinted in and dived to try and make the catch, but it bounced just in front of his glove. Andy Ibáñez reached on a fielding error by Carlos Correa to start the seventh when he bobbled his grounder and didn't attempt a throw to first. Abreu retired David Dahl on a fly out before striking out Charlie Culberson and Jose Trevino to end the inning. Valdez struggled with command on Saturday night and tied a career high by walking six batters. Four of his six walks came in the first two innings. He settled down after the second and retired 12 of his last 14 batters. The 27-year-old left-hander was making... [More]

CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Meadows hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to cap Tampa Bay’s comeback in a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, hours after the Rays acquired slugger Nelson Cruz from Minnesota. Meadows’ one-out liner off Bryan Shaw (3-4) brought home Randy Arozarena, who began the 10th at second base. Pete Fairbanks (3-3) pitched the ninth and Diego Castillo struck out Franmil Reyes and Bobby Bradley with the potential tying run at third in the 10th for his 14th save. Thu Jul 22 202122:52Braves beat Phillies 7-2, climb back into NL East race
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Dansby Swanson hit his first career grand slam, Orlando Arcia added a solo shot and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Thursday night to inch closer in the NL East race. Charlie Morton (9-4) allowed two earned runs over six innings and struck out eight in his latest strong start. With the victory, the Braves — winners of the last three NL East titles — closed within four games of the idle New York Mets and tied Philadelphia for second place at 47-48. Atlanta did most of its offensive damage against Phillies starter Matt Moore, who allowed six earned runs in six innings. Morton cruised for most of the night before stumbling a bit in the seventh when Didi Gregorius hit a leadoff triple and Odubel Herrera followed with an RBI double. Luke Jackson replaced Morton and got two outs before allowing Jean Segura’s RBI single. The Braves added a run in the ninth when Austin Riley drew a bases-loaded walk off Mauricio Llovera. Sun Jun 27 202118:50Gallo homers again, Lyles strong as Rangers beat Royals 4-1
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Joey Gallo homered again, Jordan Lyles pitched seven strong innings after getting bumped from the rotation for one start, and the Texas Rangers finished a three-game sweep with a 4-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. The last-place Rangers have won three consecutive games for the first time since sweeping Houston at home from May 21-23, which they followed with an 0-9 trip on the way to tying a franchise record with 16 straight road losses. Texas is headed on the road again this time, a six-game trip that starts Tuesday at Oakland. The Rangers had a 3-19 slide after the sweep of Houston but now have won five of seven. “I’ve told this team many times, we’re obviously young, there’s obviously a lot of growth and development going on,” manager Chris Woodward said. “At the same time, we’re competitive. We want to win. What we went through before was kind of important for us to get through and come out the other side.” Whit Merrifield had an RBI single among... [More]
