Mon Aug 1 201118:57Lions sign WR Maurice Stovall
Lions signed WR Maurice Stovall, formerly of the Bucs.
Like Rashied Davis, Stovall is a fourth receiver and special teamer. The two veterans will likely battle Derrick Williams for one roster spot with Stefan Logan handling returns as the fifth receiver. We're keeping an eye on rookie Titus Young, who has missed the last two practices with a leg injury.

Free agent WR Maurice Stovall is undecided about re-signing with the Bucs.
"I'm back and forth with it," Stovall said. "I'm going to weigh my options." As a fifth receiver and special teamer, Stovall isn't going to have teams beating down his door. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot no matter where he lands.

Bucs declared WR Maurice Stovall, WR Preston Parker, DL Erik Lorig, third QB Rudy Carpenter, RB LeGarrette Blount, RB Kregg Lumpkin, OL Ted Larsen and DL Michael Bennett inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Rookie Arrelious Benn is surprisingly ahead of Stovall as the No. 4 wideout. Also, Karerem Huggins is the clear backup to Caddy Williams with newcomers Blount and Lumpkin inactive. FB Earnest Graham is also available for carries.

Bucs WR Maurice Stovall (ankle) has been ruled out for the team's preseason finale Thursday.

Maurice Stovall (ankle) is not expected to play in the Bucs' third preseason game.

Tue Aug 24 201016:40Bucs' flanker job is 'up for grabs'
Bucs coach Raheem Morris confirmed Tuesday that the team's starting flanker job is still "up for grabs."
Maurice Stovall is currently listed as the first-stringer, but Sammie Stroughter, rookie Arrelious Benn, and Reggie Brown are pushing for the job. WRs coach Eric Yarber appreciates Stovall's knowledge of the scheme and attention to detail, but he's certainly not going to be a difference maker. The job should be Benn's by early in the season, assuming he holds off Stroughter.

Mon Aug 16 201016:50Stovall ruled out of preseason game
Maurice Stovall has been ruled out for the Bucs' second preseason game due to an ankle injury.
The injury bug has frequently bitten Stovall in his five-year career, costing him 20 games in the previous four seasons. This could pave the way for rookie Arrelious Benn to move up the depth chart. While Stovall's been listed as the starting flanker throughout camp, Benn has been third string.
Sat Aug 7 201010:49Stovall pulls ahead in Bucs' flanker battle
Updating a previous item, the Tampa Tribune reports that Maurice Stovall has emerged as the favorite to start at flanker for the Bucs.
The report contradicts an earlier suggestion from ESPN's Pat Yasinskas that Stovall's roster spot was in jeopardy because he was low on the depth chart. Tampa Trib writer Roy Cummings is at practice every day, and almost certainly has a better grip on the goings-on for the team he covers directly. Cummings also quotes Bucs WRs coach Eric Yarber: "Right now Stovall is with the 1s. He's having a real good camp." Stovall lacks big playmaking ability, but appears to be beating out Arrelious Benn, with Sammie Stroughter ticketed for the slot.

Fri Apr 16 201016:49Bucs re-sign WR Stovall
Bucs re-signed restricted free agent WR Maurice Stovall to a one-year, $1.176 million contract.
Stovall, 25, made seven starts last year, catching 24 passes for 366 yards (15.3 YPC) and a touchdown. He's a better option than Michael Clayton, but would be a fourth receiver/special teamer on a good team. The good news for Stovall's outlook is that Tampa has the league's worst receiver corps.
