Barbre (ankle) is expected to have surgery this week, which could rule him out for the remainder of this season ESPN reports.
Barbre endured a high ankle sprain Sunday, which was initially expected to rule him out for 4-to-6 weeks, but could now end his season following surgery. Barbre suffered a high ankle sprained during Sunday's regular season opener, ESPN.com reports.
Barbre is now expected to miss around 4-to-6 weeks, leaving the Eagles thin on offensive lineman, since Lane Johnson is suspended for three more games and Evan Mathis (knee) will likely also face a sideline spell after going down Sunday. With both Barbe and Mathis leaving during the first-half of Sunday's game, David Molk and Andrew Gardner filled in for them along Philadelphia's offensive line, which should welcome back Matt Tobin (ankle) to practice this week.
Sun Jul 27 201411:08Barbre could replace Herremans at right guard
CSN Philly envisions Allen Barbre pushing Todd Herremans for the starting right guard job.
Barbre will open the season as the starting right tackle while Lane Johnson serves a four-game suspension for a PED violation. But after signing Barbre to a three-year extension earlier in the offseason, the Eagles plan on using him more. He's a plus athlete who can play both guard and tackle. Herremans is 31 and has a $4.2 million cap number. He struggled as a pass protector last season.

Sat Jul 5 201412:02Barbre likely starter during Johnson's ban
Eagles G/T Allen Barbre will likely take over at right tackle during Lane Johnson's suspension.
Signed to a three-year extension earlier in the offseason, Barbre is clearly the Eagles' top reserve lineman and should get the first crack at replacing Johnson. Barbre is not as athletic as Johnson, but he still possess the plus quickness and athleticism coach Chip Kelly requires from his offensive linemen. Barbre played 89 offensive snaps at left and right tackle last season.

Tue Jun 3 201415:43Eagles sign G/T Barbre to 3-year extension
Eagles signed G/T Allen Barbre to a three-year contract extension through 2017.
Barbre, 30 later this month, can play both guard and tackle and played 89 offensive snaps at left and right tackle in 2013. He's the Eagles' top reserve up front. At the 2007 Combine, Barbre finished second in the forty (4.84), sixth in the shuttle (4.63), and second (7.40) in the three-cone drill at his position, so he fits coach Chip Kelly's scheme as a quick, athletic lineman. LG Evan Mathis and RG Todd Herremans have high salaries and are both in their thirties.
