CLEVELAND (AP) — César Hernández hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning off Alex Colomé, giving the Cleveland Indians a 5-3 victory over Minnesota on Saturday that dropped the Twins to 0-8 in extra-inning games this season. Hernández’s first career game-ending home run led off the 10th and sliced over the right-field wall to score Austin Hedges, who started at second base under pandemic rules. Colomé (2-4) also gave up Jordan Luplow’s leadoff homer in the 10th inning of a 5-3 loss at Cleveland on April 26. James Karinchak (2-0) got four outs, finishing a 4 2/3 hitless scoreless Indians bullpen behind AL Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber. Bieber allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six, ending his 23-game streak of at least seven strikeouts. DODGERS 6, GIANTS 3 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Max Muncy hit a home run into McCovey Cove, connecting off Scott Kazmir in the lefty’s first big league game since 2016, and Los Angeles beat San Francisco for its seventh straight win. Walker Buehler (3-0) pitched seven innings and Austin Barnes also homered for the Dodgers. The 37-year-old Kazmir (0-1) allowed just one run — on Muncy’s homer — and two hits in four innings. The three-time All-Star struck out two, walked none and threw 55 pitches, Buster Posey homered for San Francisco. The Giants have lost two straight to their division rivals after a season-best five-game winning streak. Albert Pujols had an RBI single in the eighth and has had a hit or an RBI in all six games since making his Dodgers debut on Monday. YANKEES 7, WHITE SOX 0 NEW YORK (AP) — Gerrit Cole shook off rare control problems to pitch four-hit ball over seven innings, and New York won its fifth straight. Cole (6-2) allowed four singles, struck out seven and walked as many as three for the first time since Aug. 31. New York had four straight starts of seven shutout innings for the first time since 1932. Justin Wilson and Luis Cessa finished the five-hitter. The Yankees lead the major leagues with eight shutouts. Gleyber Torres had three hits and four RBIs. Dylan Cease (2-1) allowed a season-high five runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings. RED SOX 4, PHILLIES 3 PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Xander Bogaerts and Danny Santana hit consecutive home runs in the sixth inning, Matt Barnes retired Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins to strand the potential tying run in the ninth, and Boston beat Philadelphia for its fourth straight win. Nathan Eovaldi (5-2) ended a streak of three no-decisions, allowing two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Four relievers combined for one-run, two-hit relief, and AL East-leading Boston improved to a season-high 11 games over .500 at 29-18. PADRES 6, MARINERS 4 SAN DIEGO (AP) — Eric Hosmer hit a two-run, bases-loaded single and Fernando Tatis Jr. came around and scored on an error on the play to highlight the five-run fifth inning for San Diego, which beat Seattle for its eighth straight win. The game was tied at 1 when the Padres broke through against left-hander Justus Sheffield (3-4) in the fifth. The Padres scored five runs on four singles, two walks, a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt by Joe Musgrove, a starting pitcher who sometimes is called on to pinch-hit. ATHLETICS 6, ANGELS 2 ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Chris Bassitt pitched five-hit ball into the eighth inning and Seth Brown hit a two-run homer in the Athletics’ victory over the Angels. Matt Olson and Aramís García hit solo homers, while Mark Canha tripled, doubled and scored two runs as the first-place A’s took the first two games and claimed the series victory over their last-place downstate rivals. Bassitt (4-2) gave up only a leadoff walk and David Fletcher’s slow-rolling single during the first seven innings. Although he struck out eight and got within four outs of his first career complete game, Bassit gave up three hits and both runs in the eighth, getting chased by Shohei Ohtani’s RBI triple to center. NATIONALS 12, ORIOLES 9 WASHINGTON (AP) — Ryan Zimmerman hit a tiebreaking three-run homer and finished with three hits, and Washington overcame a pair of five-run deficits in a win over Baltimore. Zimmerman’s home run in the fourth against Adam Plutko (1-1) broke a 6-all tie. Baltimore (17-28) dropped its fifth straight and lost for the 11th time in 13 games. García, who hit a three-run, walkoff drive in the 10th inning to beat the Astros 7-5 on Friday night, had a solo homer in the fifth. The 28-year-old Cuban rookie added another solo shot in the seventh off Andre Scrubb (1-1). Jose Trevino hit a two-run double during a five-run seventh inning as the Rangers overcame a 4-3 deficit. LOUIS (AP) — Four pitchers combined for five innings of scoreless, two-hit relief after Miles Mikolas appeared to get injured in his delayed season debut, and Yadier Molina hit a tiebreaking home run that lifted St. Louis over Chicago. Molina broke a 1-1 tie when led off the seventh inning with his seventh home run this season, connecting on a slider with an 0-2 count from Adbert Alzolay (2-4). Mikolas, a 32-year-old right-hander who won 18 games in 2018, was activated Saturday for his first major league start since the 2019 NL Championship Series.
