Eagles waived OG Kyle DeVan.
DeVan opened the season as the Eagles' starting right guard, but it was only a matter of time until he lost the position to first-round pick Danny Watkins. An undersized and underwhelming talent, DeVan figures to stay on Philly's speed dial as a free agent. The injury-bothered Colts could also give him a look.

Wed Sep 7 201112:24Report: DeVan to start in place of Watkins
Kyle DeVan will start at right guard Sunday, according to CSNPhilly's Reuben Frank.
Just days before the season opener, the Eagles concede that No. 23 overall pick Danny Watkins isn't ready. DeVan has only been with the team since Saturday, but he has extensive experience in line coach Howard Mudd's scheme. The problem is that DeVan is one of the least effective guards around. The Eagles have to be concerned that they have four new starters protecting Michael Vick: LG Evan Mathis, C Jason Kelce, RG DeVan and RT Todd Herremans.

Eagles claimed OG Kyle DeVan off waivers from the Colts.
Chalk this one up to offensive line coach Howard Mudd, who had DeVan for nine starts in 2009. At 6'2/306, DeVan fits Mudd's smaller, quicker approach up front. Undrafted rookie DT Cedric Thornton was waived to create roster space.

Thu Jul 22 201009:07DeVan will have to compete for starting job
Colts RG Kyle DeVan will have to fend off competition for his starting job in 2010.
The good news for DeVan is that the competition isn't imposing, with journeyman Andy Alleman and rookie Jacques McClendon as perhaps the best of the bunch. The bad news for the Colts running game is that they've failed to upgrade the O-Line despite team president Bill Polian's promise to do so.
