Mon Apr 28 201422:012012 assault could keep Ochocinco out of CFL
Free agent Chad Johnson's 2012 no contest plea to assault charges could keep him out of the CFL.
The Montreal Alouettes inked Johnson to a deal 11 days ago and may have to wait another 7-10 days to find out if Johnson can secure a work permit in Canada. Johnson pleaded no contest after allegedly assaulting his wife two summers ago. The 36-year-old hasn't played football in two years.

Thu Apr 17 201413:51Chad Ochocinco, 36, heading to Canada
Free agent Chad Johnson has signed with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes.
Ochocinco is Canada's problem now. Johnson last appeared in an NFL game in 2011, and turned 36 in January. His NFL days are long gone, but perhaps he can still make plays north of the border. He'll be catching passes from former NFLer Troy Smith.

Wed Apr 16 201408:28Chad Johnson is at Alouettes' minicamp
Free agent Chad Johnson is participating in the Montreal Alouettes' minicamp this week.
Johnson, 36, hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2011 and knows that ship has sailed. He seems to have embraced a potential job in Montreal, where the quarterback is former Ohio State standout Troy Smith. The Alouettes insist Johnson is not a publicity stunt. "It's all business," GM Jim Popp said. "It's real. He's in great shape. He wants to play and we'll see how things are."

Sat Apr 12 201412:06Chad Johnson to work out for CFL's Alouettes
Free agent Chad Johnson will work out for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
Johnson's last football activity was a disastrous 2012 stint with the Dolphins in which he was cut only a couple weeks into training camp. Previous to that, Johnson spent a underwhelming year in New England. At 36, it is unlikely Johnson has any juice left in the tank.

Mon Jun 17 201311:27Chad Ochocinco free after a week in jail
Free agent Chad Johnson has been released from jail after serving seven days of his 30-day sentence.
A plea deal called for Ochocinco to spend no time in the slammer on his 2012 domestic-violence charges before the judge took offense to Ocho's celebratory butt slap of his lawyer. We presume Johnson will make noise about continuing his NFL career, but the odds are very high that he's played his last snap.

Free agent Chad Johnson has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating the terms of his probation in his 2012 domestic violence case.
Ochocinco was working toward a plea deal that involved no jail time, but angered the judge after he "playfully slapped his attorney on the behind in court." Unreal. The judge also extended Ocho's probation period by three months. A strong career is wheezing to a pitiful end.

Free agent WR Chad Johnson is still trying to get back in the NFL.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Johnson is "working out every day, wanting to play, willing to do what it takes." But much like his old friend Terrell Owens, it's just not going to happen. Johnson is 35 and hasn't put anything positive on tape since 2010. Neither guy is worth the trouble.

Sat Mar 16 201321:49Chad Johnson looking to make comeback
Free agent WR Chad Johnson is hoping to make a comeback this season.
Johnson told CSN Houston that he wants to play for the Texans, but conceded that he's in "no position to be picky." After being released by the Dolphins in training camp and missing all of 2012, it's unlikely that any team is willing to take on a shot on him. Johnson turned 35 this offseason and hasn't been productive since 2010.

Wed Dec 5 201212:34Chad Johnson: 'I messed up, lost everything'
Free agent WR Chad Johnson admitted on ESPN's First Take Wednesday that his August arrest for domestic battery, in addition to an obsession with self-promotion, cost him the end of his NFL career.
"I messed up. I messed up," said Johnson. "Period. I lost everything. Football, my wife, the family I had, over something that didn't really mean anything." Johnson finalized his divorce from Evelyn Lozada in September. "I lost that edge when my focus went away from the game of football," Johnson also conceded. "I know that. I understand that." Johnson says he's now "humbled", and guaranteed that he's "going to play again." He turns 35 in a month.

Free agent WR Chad Johnson is not working out for the Eagles Tuesday.
Johnson created a stir when he tweeted that he had a flight to Philadelphia Tuesday morning. As it turns out, his trip to the city of brotherly love has nothing to do with the football team. Johnson remains unlikely to play in the NFL this season.

The apology comes just hours after Johnson's wife of 41 days filed for divorce. "I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred," Johnson said. "I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL ... Mon Jul 30 201213:25Ochocinco 'best WR on the team right now'
The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero believes Chad Johnson is the "best wide receiver on the (Dolphins) right now."
This can either be taken as a point in Johnson's favor, or one-sentence summation of the dire state of the Dolphins' receiver corps. Nevertheless, it was just as likely that the early reports were going to peg Johnson as done, so his odds of cracking the 53-man roster appear to be steadily on the rise. There's a strong chance he'll begin the year as a starter.

Chad Johnson opened Dolphins camp as a starting wideout.
The first-team wideouts were Johnson, Davone Bess and Legedu Naanee. Brian Hartline, who has missed some time due to an appendectomy, should be among the starters shortly. Johnson, who is operating without guarantees in his contract, will have to earn his spot.
