Fri Aug 24 2012 | 15:27 | Bengals waive four players |
Bengals waived RB Aaron Brown, DE Luke Black, QB Tyler Hansen, and OG Matt Murphy. |
The Bengals also placed five players on injured reserve and are down to 76 players on their roster, needing to get down to 75 by Monday. Brown, 27 in October, struggled to the tune of nine yards on 15 preseason touches. Black and Hansen were undrafted rookie free agents. Murphy is a 23-year-old journeyman. |

Sat Apr 28 2012 | 17:29 | Rams take Hawaii LB product Brown at No. 209 |
Rams selected Hawaii LB Aaron Brown with the No. 209 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. |
Another player with a quiet pre-draft process, Brown has workout strength with 31 bench press reps while running a 4.78 forty. As a senior he accumulated 103 tackles, 13 for a loss, four and a half sacks, and three interceptions. This earned Brown first-team all-WAC honors. A member of the United States National under-20 rugby team, we expect him to predominately focus on special teams. |

Lions waived RB Aaron Brown. |
Brown saw just one carry for zero yards since being signed a month ago. The Lions will go with Joique Bell, who has a better chance of sticking on the roster in 2012. |

Mon Nov 28 2011 | 17:29 | Lions re-sign RB Aaron Brown |
Lions re-signed RB Aaron Brown. |
Brown, 26, knows OC Scott Linehan's offense after spending camp and last season with Detroit. He's a faster, quicker option than Maurice Morris, but the Lions have leaned toward the veteran over Brown in the past. It's possible Brown is only being signed as an emergency back until Kevin Smith (ankle) returns. |

Broncos worked out free agent RB Aaron Brown on Tuesday. |
The Broncos are likely just updating their emergency list. If Knowshon Moreno goes down, Brown would be an option on passing downs. Denver also worked out DBs David Jones and Trevard Lindley. |

The Titans will work out former Lions RB Aaron Brown on Tuesday. |
The former sixth-round pick will join Clinton Portis in Nashville for the tryout. Tennessee is healthy in the backfield, so this looks like a workout to update the team's "emergency list." |

Detroit will go with Jerome Harrison and Maurice Morris behind Jahvid Best for now. Brown lacks vision and tackle breaking ability, but he does possess high-end receiving skills. He could get a look as a third-down back elsewhere. |

Mon Aug 29 2011 | 09:27 | Aaron Brown in lead to be Best's backup? |
With Jahvid Best resting, Aaron Brown started the Lions' third preseason game. |
Brown handled himself well, rushing nine times for 30 yards and adding four catches for 48 yards with a touchdown. He also picked up the bulk of first-team reps while Best was sidelined in practice last week and appears to be ahead of Jerome Harrison on the depth chart for now. Brown's speed and pass-catching ability fits nicely in the Lions' offense, but he'd likely share reps with Maurice Morris and Harrison if Best goes down. |

Wed Jul 13 2011 | 08:49 | Aaron Brown a 'longshot' for Lions roster |
Lions RB Aaron Brown is a considered a "longshot" to make the final roster this season. |
The 2009 sixth-rounder has just 44 rushing attempts in two seasons, and he hasn't been able to nail down a role on kick returns. The addition of second-rounder Mikel Leshoure leaves Detroit with a crowded backfield. We've seen no speculation that veteran Maurice Morris -- due $1.625 million -- will be released. |

Wed Apr 6 2011 | 14:42 | Aaron Brown not expected back with Lions |
The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett believes that RB/KR Aaron Brown has played his last snap with the Lions. |
Talent is not an issue for the speedy Brown, but he's been a mental error waiting to happen through two seasons. His playing time dropped dramatically in 2010, and the NFL's new special teams rules further decreases his value. He was the Lions' primary kickoff returner as a rookie in 2009. |

Thu Nov 25 2010 | 16:54 | Brown piles up 17 touches in loss |
Aaron Brown rushed 13 times 36 yards and added four catches for 29 yards in Thursday's loss to the Patriots. |
It's a career-high in touches for Brown, the Lions' sixth-round pick in 2009. He didn't start and wasn't the goal-line back, but ended up with more touches than Maurice Morris anyway. The Lions will likely continue to see what they have in Brown, but his upside is capped by Morris' presence. |
Mon Sep 27 2010 | 16:46 | Aaron Brown out indefinitely |
Lions RB Aaron Brown could miss as many as four weeks after breaking a bone in his right hand in Week 3. |
Brown will have more tests on the hand, but he's out indefinitely. With Jahvid Best battling an aggravating turf toe injury, the door could open for Kevin Smith to be active on game days. Smith showed so little in the preseason, however, that he probably wouldn't play often behind Maurice Morris. |

Sun Aug 15 2010 | 23:27 | Aaron Brown has lead for kickoff returns |
Lions RB Aaron Brown reportedly "has the early lead" to be the team's primary kickoff returner. |
If so, he's getting the nod over Derrick Williams. Brown averaged 30 yards per return on two attempts in the preseason opener, while Williams managed a 23-yard average on the same number of tries. Brown should make the final roster as a No. 3 or 4 back, depending on whether Maurice Morris is kept. |

Sun Aug 8 2010 | 15:18 | Aaron Brown cuts down on mental mistakes |
Lions RB Aaron Brown has reportedly cut down on mental mistakes in camp and appears likely to make the final, 53-man roster. |
If the spot comes down to Brown and Maurice Morris, Brown figures to get the nod because he is cheaper, considerably more explosive, and offers value on special teams. Morris has fallen well behind Jahvid Best and Kevin Smith. |

Wed Jul 21 2010 | 08:53 | Brown still in Lions' doghouse |
Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is nowhere near the point where he feels he can trust Aaron Brown, according to beat writer Tom Kowalski. |
Brown's mental mistakes have him in Linehan's doghouse with Jahvid Best on board, Brown doesn't have much of a shot to contribute on offense. He'll try to make the team as a kickoff returner. |

Thu Jun 24 2010 | 22:19 | Aaron Brown still making mental errors |
Lions RB Aaron Brown still hasn't convinced the coaching staff that he's put his rookie-year mental errors behind him. |
"He has had some rough spots," coach Jim Schwartz said. "He has been inconsistent. He really needs to pick it up a little bit." Brown won't have an offensive role with Jahvid Best making him redundant, so he may have to take the kickoff return job from Derrick Williams to make the team. |
