Abraham (concussion) is "50-50" whether he'll return for a 15th season in 2015, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
Abraham suffered a concussion in Week 1 this past season, and after entering the NFL's protocol for head injuries, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the linebacker had been suffering from memory loss for more than a year, raising speculation that he may have played his last professional down. Indeed, Abraham was soon placed on season-ending injured reserve, and the Cardinals' dearth of linebacker depth forced defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to turn to five or six defensive backs on most plays. With Bowles' departure during the offseason to coach the Jets, the Cardinals elevated outside linebackers coach James Bettcher to helm the defense. Bettcher's direction helped Abraham accumulate 11.5 sacks during his first campaign with the Cardinals in 2013, meaning the pass rusher's return could be contingent upon his health status, not to mention how the organization proceeds in free agency and the upcoming draft.

Any return, however, will be contingent on Abraham ultimately passing all concussion tests. It's certainly not a given with the 36-year-old complaining of memory loss after his most recent head injury.

Per Schefter, Abraham has been enduring memory loss for more than a year, meaning the pass rusher could be contemplating retirement. The loss would be another blow to a Cardinals defense that lost last year's leading tackler, Karlos Dansby, in free agency, Daryl Washington to suspension, and Darnell Dockett to a torn ACL. Mon Jul 28 201420:45Cardinals OLB John Abraham busted for DUI
Cardinals OLB John Abraham was arrested and charged with DUI in Atlanta on June 29.
This may explain why Abraham, 36, has yet to show up to Cardinals camp. He was previously busted for DWI in 2003 while with the Jets, so Abraham may be staring down a suspension once the legal process plays out. Considering how long it takes for these matters to be resolved, it may not even affect Abraham during the 2014 season. Abraham led Arizona with 11.5 sacks last year.

Wed Jul 24 201320:41Report: John Abraham has offer from Cardinals
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Cardinals have an offer on the table to free agent DE/OLB John Abraham.
Abraham, 35, visited the team on Wednesday. Arguably the top free agent available on the open market, he'd immediately become the Cardinals' top edge rusher if signed. Abraham has never played outside 'backer in a 3-4 defense, but the Falcons moved him around and stood him up on multiple occasions over the last couple of seasons. He'd be a huge upgrade on both Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander.
