Fri Jan 9 201509:43Chung signed three-year extension with Patriots on Friday worth ...
Chung signed a three-year extension with the Patriots on Friday worth up to $8.2 million, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
After being cut by the Eagles last March, Chung quickly reunited with the Patriots, where he's served as the team's starting safety all season. Though his previous tenure with New England was marred by inconsistent play, he's come through with an effective 2014 season, defensing seven passes while racking up 85 tackles. The improved play was enough for the Patriots to justify locking Chung up through the end of the 2017 campaign.
Thu Apr 3 201413:26Patriots reunite with FS Patrick Chung
Patriots signed FS Patrick Chung, formerly of the Eagles.
Chung is returning to the team that made him a second-round pick in 2009. The Patriots have a hole opposite Devin McCourty after releasing Steve Gregory, but Chung was one of the very-worst safeties in the league last season. That, coupled with his long and winding injury history means he's almost certainly just a depth signing. Chung won't be guaranteed to crack the 53-man roster. Duron Harmon is the early favorite to start opposite McCourty.

The move saves the Eagles $3.25 million against the 2014 salary cap. Chung was a disaster in every facet of the game in 2013 and failed to force a single turnover despite playing 815 snaps. He will likely have to wait until the third wave of free agency before he finds a new home.

Fri Jan 10 201418:27Eagles expected to release Pat Chung
The Eagles are expected to release FS Pat Chung this offseason.
Chung is owed $3.25 million and was dreadful throughout 2013, getting burned in coverage relentlessly and consistently taking bad angles in the run game. He didn't force a single turnover. A 2009 second-round pick of the Patriots, Chung has been exposed as a poor safety since a faux-breakout 2010 season.

Fri Jun 21 201316:05Pat Chung to enter camp as favorite to start
Pat Chung will enter training camp as the Eagles' favorite to start at strong safety.
He'll face competition from rookie Earl Wolff, but Chung will qualify as an IDP sleeper if he keeps the job into Week 1. ESPN Boston reiterates that free agent SS Pat Chung's days with the Patriots are likely over.
The Pats appear set at safety with Devin McCourty, Steve Gregory and Tavon Wilson. Chung played just two snaps in the AFC Championship game and will be looking for a more direct path to playing time.
